Circumferential Borehole Imaging Logging ToolCBIT

CBIT is used to perform ultrasonic scanning imaging for the sidewall of the open-hole well or cased well. The probe of the instrument sends high frequency sonic pulse and measures the arrival time and amplitude of the back wave. It measures the geometrical shape of the borehole, identify the cracks and the evaluates the roughness of the sidewall, etc.

Instrument Characteristics:

l  Compare the orientation and depth of the entire rock core

l  Identify and measure the cracks, holes and borehole slump

l  Identify the rock and the orientation of the crack

l  Obtain the detailed geometrical shape of the borehole through the high-resolution acoustic measurement data

l  Position and evaluate the corrosion, mechanical wear, breakage and perforation of the casing pipe

l  Determine the dip angle

Instrument Features:

l  Utilize the mode of back wave for work,  and one rotatory transducer generates two images of borehole: travel time and  amplitude

l  The two focused transducers used have different focusing lengths, and could be used in ultra-sonic scanning for the wellbore of 5.5in-16in effectively.

l  The use of two focused transducers could reduce the attenuation of acoustical signal in the mud

l  Adapt to the larger borehole diameter range and mud weight range

l  The ultra-sonic scanning could obtain the images within 360º around the well

l  Convert the data on travel time into the geometrical shape of the borehole by measuring the velocity of the sound in the mud in real time

Application Conditions:

Wellbore diameter: 139 mm (5.5 in) to 406.4 mm (16 in)
