HYSY640 Stimulation Vessel and HYSY 696 Large Integrated Fracturing Vessel
The HYSY 640 vessel was independently constructed and launched in 2014 as the first offshore oilfield simulation vessel in China. It pioneered a new dual-support fracturing model in our country, combining “platform + simulation vessel,” which provides a flexible and reliable extension support carrier for large-scale offshore fracturing operations. The vessel's integrated design perfectly embodies the concept of “small layout, large project” for offshore simulation activities, without occupying platform space. It offers clients high-quality and efficient integrated services for maritime fracturing, acidizing, and sand prevention. Additionally, the vessel is equipped with a DP-2 dynamic positioning system, enabling it to operate effectively even in harsh environmental conditions.
As of October 2024, HYSY640 stimulation vessel has supported over 100 well-times of acidizing operation, more than 800 fracturing and fracturing filling operations, with cumulative supporting service of over 1800 days, and the equipment is outstanding in performance, high maneuverability, with better construction effect.

To meet the demands of large-scale development in offshore low-permeability reservoirs, in 2022, CNOOC took the lead in constructing the HYSY696, a large integrated fracturing vessel. This vessel is equipped with five 5000 HHP electric-driven fracturing pumps, achieving a maximum pumping power of 18.63 MW, ranking first globally. It has a maximum pumping capacity of 12.7 m³/min, ranking second in the world. Additionally, it features a storage capacity for fracturing materials of 1,260 tons, also ranking second globally. This vessel enables comprehensive large-scale volumetric fracturing of offshore low-permeability oil and gas fields.
China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) participated comprehensively and throughout the entire process of the design and construction, conducting systematic research on the key technologies for large fracturing vessels and their safe operation. This provides solid technical support for the orderly advancement and safe operation of the construction project. The vessel is expected to be delivered to COSL for operation in 2025.
