Mental Health and Mental Fitness Counselling
|
Following his skeptical attendance at COSL’s Tianjin “Mental Health Training Camp 2013”, workover captain Liu Lei, was amazed by the positive effects the camp had on his own attitudes and on his own mental health awareness. Disharmony and strained relationships among crew are an ever-present hazard from depression, anger, and frustrations caused by stresses of the job, the isolation, and the close-quarters environment. Liu Lei had an idea: why not have counseling available, to everyone, at sea? His idea was supported by the unit and a “psychological assistance department”was commissioned, with the respective sea captains as the leaders and “grassroots” crew as the peer-support teams. The effects were profound. Peer-counselling teams reported “. . . greatly-reduced disharmony with the spiritual distance between employees being much ’closer’.”

COSL actively protects marine life during the geophysical-survey stage of oil exploration, by observing marine life’s habits and by paying close attention to seasonal variations in location and behavior.
